19 Aug Nashville Pro-Am Championship Recap
The championship game of the 2019 Nashville Pro-Am came down to the defending champions Slim and Husky’s and the hottest team in this year’s league Team Cash. A new champion was crowned as Team Cash would defeat Slim and Husky’s 132-118 in a game that was very exciting but saw Team Cash pull away late.
In the first quarter Team Cash would have a 10-0 run to start the game, then Slim and Husky’s finally saw the ball go in the hoop. A barrage of made three point shots and dunks would be exchanged between the two teams that would eventually see a small 32-30 lead for Team Cash at the end of the first quarter.
After the first, Team Cash would have control the rest of the game. John Jenkins would finish with a triple-double; 48 points, 10 rebounds, and 13 assist. Gerald Robinson would have 28, and Anuna would finish with 12 points.
Slim and Husky’s Josh Sain would lead his team with 28 points, but it came off 27 shots. Myles Thrash finished with 15 points but struggled shooting as well, especially from the three-point line (2-for-9). Slim and Husky’s won the turnover battle 18-9, but struggled at the free throw line going 14-for-25.
“This feels really good… especially for me. I’ve play every year in the Pro-Am and the furthest I’ve gone is the semifinals so they (Cash) hit me up asking to be on their team. So, it feels good to win the ship finally.” Team Cash point guard KC Anuna said. KC Anuna was also named league MVP for the 2019 season. Anuna averaged 25.3 ppg, 7.4 rpg, and 4.1 apg leading the team to a 4-1 regular season record and the number 2 seed in the playoffs along with finally winning the championship. “That felt good as well, I been working hard. It feels good to show out for the city, I grew up here (Nashville) so it’s just good to be MVP of the city.”
